How To Release Past Life Vows That Are Keeping You Stuck
Do you feel like no matter how hard you try to create change in an area of your life, you remain stuck? Perhaps you feel misaligned, and no matter what you do to try and shift your patterns, you keep repeating the same cycles, time and time again.
This, my friend, could be due to a Vow you’ve taken, either in this life or a previous one. Vows are one of the biggest things I see creating blocks and restrictions for my clients in my Akashic Records work.
Let’s take a deeper look at what exactly ARE vows, how they keep up stuck from creating our dream lives, and what we can do to release them and move on.
What are Vows and How Do We Create Them?
There are a number of different vows that can cause us to be disempowered in our current reality.
A vow is a heartfelt promise that we make, either to God or to someone who we perceive as a representative of God.
When we take/make this vow, we commit to it at Soul level. We mean these vows deeply and wholeheartedly.
What happens is, if we don’t resolve or complete that vow before we die, in that lifetime, in that karmic cycle - it will carry on. When we die and reincarnate into future lives, that vow will still be running and still be true for us, even if we may not realize it.
Types of Past Life Vows
There are a myriad of vows we could have taken that may be disempowering us in our current lifetime. There are vows of poverty, vows of silence, vows of sacrifice or suffering as well as marriage vows among others. Let’s get into that last one, marriage vows, since they’re unique in the way they work.
Marriage Vows
Let me start off by saying the commitment we make to one another can be a beautiful, wonderful thing. But if you look back historically, in most countries, when a woman took marriage vows, she was actually handing over her personal power to her husband.
As women, when we got married, the husband became the decision maker for us. That means that if a Soul incarnated as a female in a past life, back when women were not expected to have power or make decisions, and she took a vow of marriage, she handed over her complete power to her husband. And if that Soul didn’t resolve that vow during that lifetime, when they reincarnate, they can still feel and act disempowered. This Soul had literally, truly, honest-to-God, deeply, at Soul-level given their power over to this other person.
That can often manifest in that woman’s current lifetime (whether they are a male or female this lifetime) as a difficulty making decisions for themselves, the desire to constantly change their mind, a discomfort in positions of leadership, general feelings of overwhelm when they’re put in charge of situations, just to name a few signs.

Religious Vows
Aside from marriage vows to a partner, most of the other vows we take are of a religious nature. Many have taken vows of poverty, obedience or silence.
Usually we have made those vows in order to participate in religions, cults or societal organizations that require us to take them when we join.
I often see clients who come to me that in a past life they’ve joined the Church and taken vows to God, as I did.
And upon first glance, that sounds like a good thing, right?
But let's say you took a vow of silence. Many of the monasteries back in the day were silent monasteries - so you gave up your right to speak, your right to your Divine Self-Expression.
It’s possible that you’re the type of person where your primary energy center, your Soul Purpose, is Divine Self-Expression, Divine Truth, or Divine Wisdom... and all of those are expressed through speaking.
But in this case, if you’ve taken a vow of silence at Soul level, it could be leaving you feeling excruciatingly disempowered.
Not only will it continue to disempower you, but it will continue to separate you from your own Divinity. This means you’ll have difficulties creating any type of abundance in your experience, through your self-expression, until you release that vow of silence.
How To Release Past Life Vows
The way I help my clients release past life vows is by going into the Akashic Records to see if and what type of past life vows they have, and then I begin to clear them.
If you are not familiar with what the Akashic records are, the Akashic Records are essentially the energetic database (or spiritual superhighway, if you will), that stores all the information on the choices you've made throughout your different lifetimes.
Over a approx. five hour session, we will work to discover and clear your past life vows, and then I will give you homework to do every day for 21 days to reclaim your personal power and reacquaint yourself with the energy and the resonance of your own Divine Self-Expression. It’s important to remember: if we are unconsciously holding onto certain vows, we are giving up our personal power.

Why do we look for Vows in the Akashic Records?
The Akashic Records are a library, or collection of all of our thoughts, words and deeds from the moment that we were individuated from Source until present. So, if there are any blocks and restrictions that we have, the Akashic Records are the place to find them. They're all listed for us, we can go and find them.
I’ll go into the Records and ask them…
When did you create this blocking restriction?
What lifetime?
What was the situation?
When we get to the heart of these questions, you can acknowledge the vow in question, accept it, and decide whether or not you are ready to let it go.
It’s important to remember that while vows can often separate us from our personal power, they are something we CHOSE. We took them on purpose! Vows are deep commitments, they are Soul-level covenants that we make with other people, outside of ourselves, that we desperately, truly at Soul-level mean, that often never get resolved before we die. In addition, vows usually involve some sort of ritual.
So usually, when you join the Church or organization, there's a ritual that takes place. If you get married, there's a ritual with the marriage vows. Vows are never something that happen accidentally, and they are generally witnessed and agreed to by other people as well. They are always a choice.
But while it may have been the right choice for us at that moment, that doesn’t mean the vows we took are serving us in this current lifetime.
So if you took a vow of poverty in a past life time, and it still rings true for you, it doesn’t mean you have to go sell all your worldly possessions and go live in a cave somewhere. All it means is that you have to identify the vow, understand how you created, and ask yourself if you’re ready to let it go.

You have experiences of poverty that don’t make sense to you
You always seem to have just enough or less than what you need
You feel like you always have to follow the rules, but you’re also really rebellious at the same time
You feel like you have to sacrifice all of the time in order to get what you want
